“Adulting” Fail Episode

The management company of my community contacted me this week…

“Could you please turn on the outside hose spigot on the side of your unit, if you haven’t done so already. Thanks so much for your help. I have a few homeowners who would like to use the hose. If you need help turning it on, please do not hesitate to let me know. I can have the maintenance man come up and help you tomorrow. 🙂 ”

I have lived in this house since 2014, and twice a year I have to flip the lever in my basement, to turn the outside water on and off.  It is not rocket science. I flipped the lever at the end of May, after the last freeze. I was sure I had done it, but went down into the basement and checked, and confirmed that all was well.

I then went outside to see if there was a problem with the hose. Nope, same hose, same setup. One spigot, with a splitter, to send water through the hose at the side of the house, or the hose at the back of the house, along with dials/toggles to shut the water off from one hose or the other. I turned the spigot on, and checked both hoses. all good.

I don’t blame the management company. Someone told them I had not turned the water on, and they had no reason to believe that was not true…

So, I sent them a confirmation that the water had been turned on the whole time, and then I then sent directions explaining how the hose works, so that they could pass those directions along to whoever was garden hose challenged. Unable to turn on functioning hose = adulting fail. smh
